I went out to a local creek in Kentucky and started swinging away and not more than 5 minutes into the hunt I found a 1943 Merc just a few inches under the soil right by the bank where some fisherman must have dropped it. There is a dam built there and the date on the dam was 1932 so there must be a lot more out there waiting for me to find. I walked the bank of the creek for about 2 miles and came out with 82 cents, not including the merc, an arrow head, and I am guessing that I found a civil war bullet. It is kind of mutilated but I can see the 2 rings. I compared it to several web sites and I think I got a match. I keep everything I find and put them in my pouch to clean up later and washed this piece of lead off and walla. Here is a picture of the merc. The others did not scan to well. I might have to invest in a magnifying glass to help with the details. Thanks for looking.

Congratulations on that First Mercury Dime from another Kentuckian. Merc was my first ever silver. Love that design. I lived in Lexington for 2 1/2 years while going to UK, but wasn't detecting back then. I wish you the best of luck and many more great finds.
