Hi, this is my first post on Treasure net. I like the fact it has a Pa section.
I just received a response from Berks County Parks that metal detecting is prohibited on county owned land. This sucks, mainly because the county recently acquired Antietam Lake and the surrounding land, which is loaded with old buildings. This was a good hunt before the county got it.

So my search is on for a place to hunt in Berks County, Pa, preferably near the Oley area.

Welcome to Tnet. I've found that the best places to hunt have always been on private property. You may get turned down alot, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck, looking forward to reading your future posts .

welcome to t-net mikhen :hello:
You are in a prime colonial section of berks county And you could spend a
lifetime seaching your area if i were you try to find 2 books
1. Annals of the Oley Valley (1926) by Rev. P.C. Croll,DD 148 pgs. soft cover - reprint

2. The Oley Valley: A Photographic Journey by th Oley Valley Heritage Assn.
426 pictures most from 1950 or prior This book went on sale on Nov 2010 and
was "sold out" by Jan. 2011 Give the Heritage Assn. a call as they are thinking
about printing a 2nd edition I'm sure you can find both copies at a library near you

In the mean time talk to your friends and neighbors an see if they know any spots
that you might be able to search

good luck and HH Mike
