Hi guys, I got out and hunted a little bit after work tonight.

Went to a one room school house site that I had hunted before and didn't
find anyting. The field was in corn stubble and really hard to hunt.

Went to another one room school house site that I had never found anything
at. This time it paid off. I found my first Shielded nickel this year. Also found
a 1911 Wheat penny. It got dark on me and it started to snow, so I called it
a good day of hunting.

Well HH, Ringfinder

Great find. You find it with that ACE? I'm still looking for a V Nickel.

You seem to have a lot of old one room school houses over there. All of those around here have been replaced with Dairymarts, Walgreens and gas stations. :( Guess I need to get out in the country.

Re: First shielded nickel this year! (hints of finding hunt sites)

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I forgot to include the date. It is a 1867 and as you can see from
the back it is the newer type. LOL, if you call 1867 newer.

Thanks for all your comments and for those who haven't found a
sheilded nickel, keep looking, you will. Just remember you can't find
old if your not looking in old places. I'm not saying in town school yards
aren't the place to look, but if you look at my posts so far this year,
everyone of the items came from out in the country side at a old
school site, (one room school), or a church site or an old log cabin
site.

YOu can find these sites at your local libray. Look at the old county
books from around the 1860's. Look for your township and look at where
the school sat and where old log cabin where and other buildings where at.

Also be sure to ask for permission to hunt any of these places. Besides if you
get permission, nine times out of ten the person will tell you of another place to
hunt. If you find something good at one of these places, give something back to
the owner. Good PR. never hurt anyone.

Hope this helps some of you, and if it does let me know.

HH. Ringfinder
