First silver!! found in 100 y/o logging camp!...7 carhartt's buttons

After hunting the same turn of the century logging camp for the past year and a half I finally got my first silver!
This is my third coin and the first one I dug that I knew what it was without having to clean it...what a thrill! It looks like someone (100 years ago) scratched out the face of the coin, I wonder if this is something anyone has seen before, did the offender think the coin looks like the face of Caesar, and scratched it out intentionally?! The mint mark is "S"
Also I found the 7 carhartt's buttons (five large and two small)...I am going to email the company, because I haven't seen the larger buttons with recessed lettering in that design, I know they are at least 100 years old, and in the best shape of any work clothing buttons I have found yet. Could the two smaller buttons be from gloves?
Lastly I found a cap from a "Williams' Shaving Stick".
Set a "President" suspenders.

I would call them poppers, not a true button, as such. Still cool.

Thanks Andi!
Crusader...nine out of ten times when I find buttons they are from "tin pants" found in sets of 11 (5 buttons for fly and 6 to anchor the suspenders) and almost always the rivet style with a hole in them. I think these 5 buttons came from a set of overalls (5 fly buttons) from a time before carhartt's started making pants...

great finds. who knows about the dime... not much in the form of entertainment back then. lots of folks carried knives and whittled and scratched on all kinds of stuff.

The scratches are a bummer, but the coin is in decent shape, could this coin be considered better than "good" condition?

Still looking for my first Barber dime. Found a 1907 Barber Quarter many years ago. Congrats!!

I'm still trying to find another Barber anything...
makes them all the more special when they come

Very well done. I like the S mint mark Barber.

Best of luck to you sir.

Thanks for the bump Washingtonian, it was nice seeing a memory of my first silver...
I always thought it deserved more than 3 comments. Haha. That dirty silver never gets old

Congrats on your first silver, that's a fine way to break the ice! I have found many of those exact buttons in my area, although I don't think I've seen anyone else post them before. You're in a good location for sure.

What a fun hunt! I would be in seventh heaven after a day like that!:occasion14:

Congratualtions on the fine relics and dime find! :occasion14:

Congratulations on the Sweet Silver! :headbang:
