Howdy. I dug this up today. Thought at first it was a bracelet but given its size I think maybe it went on the arm. I'm a fairly big guy and it would not stay on my wrist. If you have any ideas, let me know.

Another unusual thing is its marking, which is simply "SILVER". :icon_scratch: Not Sterling, not .925, not Coin Silver, but just Silver. Anybody know what purity it might be and/or how old it might be?

Thanks muchly!

I like the "SILVER" stamp. They weren't messing around with tricky marks.

Still not sure what the heck it is, though.

I have seen something like that on peoples arms. If its to big for your wrist, I would think its an armband piece. It does look silver, but I have never seen a piece just say silver. Its like you said, usually its "sterling" , .925 , or other numbers.

The font used on SILVER does not look old to me... but the item does. It’s a nice find, hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I can provide more info.

Congrats and good luck.

It looks like an upper arm band/cuff for ladies. I don't know if your find is that old, but these were very popular with ladies doing the Charleston during the Roaring 20's.
Congratulations

I think ATW nailed it on this one. Here is another "Flapper" sterling arm band from the age of Great Gatsby... flapper.jpg

Beautiful find, whatever it is.
The only target I have found so far with the word silver and no other marks came from England.
A silver coin bezel holding a 1954 farthing.
