Took the Manticore out this morning and hunted a 1911 building site. My very first hit was a wheat cent. Just a foot from the wheat cent was the 1917 S Standing Liberty. It was approximately 7/8” deep and rang up as 91. It’s in really nice condition. It’s a first for me.

In my experience with standing Liberty coins (which is considerable - some have been part of my collection for many years), they wear very easily and quickly. So a little circulation seems to wear off the detail, particularly of Liberty. Yours is exceptional in the detail it shows. Congratulations on a great find!

you proved if you're going to do it, do it right. That one is spectacular on lots of levels.... it's your first, it's an early one, it's in superb condition, it's an 'S' mint, etc. etc. Congrats!

Amazing find! Congrats! For me, two things stand out on the SL quarter. The beading around the rim on the obverse is unlike any other US coin. Nice details. The other thing is the eagle. The wings on eagles are huge and never shown in correct proportion when they are pictured spread on other coins. The exception is the St. Gaudens $20. The SLQ is one of our true classics.
