Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I got my first detector on December 24 and tried it in my back yard for an hour or so.. Got a few clad and a lot of nails.. Later the same day I tried an area that I had found on some old maps that I had been reviewing while I waited for my AT PRO to be delivered. It used to be a boy's and girl's camp in the 1940's up to 1970 but has been abandoned since. There was nothing left and was extremely over grown. I realize that being new to the hobby I should have probably spent some time on simpler hunts at the park or school yards to get to know my metal detector. I am glad I didn't.... I got a silver 1952 Roosevelt Dime and a 1943 "Walking Liberty"!!!! I am hooked but i also realize that I was very lucky. My second hunt was December 26 at my son's elementary school with him in tow. Much to my surprise we found a pocket full of clad and an interesting 2000 "Sacagawea Dollar."

I'm definitely hooked and looking forward to becoming more familiar with my detector. What a great hobby!!

Awesome 1st hunt, heck you dug a coin that I have been looking for since May of 2014. Congrats on pulling a Walker. :occasion14:

Nice finds.

Thanks for the comments......Can't wait to get out again, I think I will be calling in sick quite often once the weather breaks.

Welcome to the hobby. As long as you are out there swinging there is no right or wrong or simpler hunts. If you swing it you will find something. Good luck on the future hunts!

Great beginner's luck! Nice scores for sure. Even on hunts where I don't find much, I figure I gained something...that being experience. Best of luck going forward :treasurechest:

Nice! I found a Sac too at a local elementary school. Fun find and congrats on the silver! !!
