First time out panning and I found this Silver nugget. Also some fine flour gold but have not figured out how to separate it from the fine sand sucked up with it
in the snuffer bottle. Panning the mud was way to much work. Had running water in the creek so a sluice box would have processed the sticky mud way faster. I
nugget in the pan made my day as a newbie.

Run a magnet on the outside of the bottle and if the sand is magnetic which it should(black) it'll separate.

Already got the black sands out with a magnet. Gold was very fine and small. I sucked it up with a snuffer bottle but also had to suck up some of the fine quartz that was in the bottom of the pan with it.
There isn't much there but there was color. The silver nugget stood out from everything else in that pan.

I would take a metal detector and start looking for silver nuggets!

Not that advanced yet. I was digging sticky mud out of a large crack between 2 10ft boulders in a creek that I felt would trap some stuff. Took a long time
to get the sticky hard packed mud to wash out of the pan. Lucky I had some fast running water to help with the process.
