hey guys got out for a lil bit today with the etrac and was able to find a really cool token its an ols elk club token on the back it says bpoe 798 it stands for the benevolent and protective order of the elks from early 1900's thanks for looking
The Elks lodge Elks.org Grand Lodge :: Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the USA is one of many fraternal organizations - not as old as the Masonic Lodge, but probably as large and widespread in the US. As pointed out, Lodge 798 is at 220 N. Main Street in Goshen, IN. What you are seeing next to the 10 is a ¢ sign - this 10¢ token was probably used in card games in the lodge - and could be spent at their bar. It probably dates from 1910-1930 or so. Wagaman's IN Tokens book shows a 5¢ denomination, but at the time that book was published (1981), the 10¢ denomination was unknown.
