We'll guys after picking up my first detector about 3 months ago (Tesoro silver umax ). I tried a couple local newer parks out to get the feel of it and found a few bucks in clad. But after taking time to read all your advice on using the Tesoro I figured I had it dialed in. At least for a newbie. So I headed to an old park that was started let's say mid 1700's to early 1800's. This is what I found. And my first silver. Woohoo. Any help with the id on the bullet and other stuff would be greatly appreciated. And any ideas how to clean this up without hurting it. Thanks guys.

neat little silver, the bullet appears to be a more modern pistol round perhaps
sounds like a nice older park!

I think it will produce. But being in the 90's. A few hours at a time lol.

Nice start you have there

Good finds! I found a button very similar looking to that, with intricate tiny holes. Since I started to detect I always have toothpicks on hand to clean finds like that. The wood won't damage the metal but will do a great job at picking off dirt, whether from holes like that or scaling on coins and other things. Toothpicks are low on the mohs scale compared to metals, but closer to a lot of detritus, so a good tool for employing force without a high risk.

I have that machine as a second back-up. I also use a small 4inch coil with it on the Thames foreshore. Good little starter machine.

Congrats on the finds.

Thanks guys I love all the useful advice on here. I just posted pics of a pistol I found today.

Keep it up there's plenty more out there... Get to know that machine real good and it will only get better never give up...I know my machine better than my wife in the warm months....jk

Congrats on a fine start.
Any day you find silver is a good one in my book.
