I don`t think your detector is broken....could be EMI...or your cell phone ...sensitivity to high....mineralized ground...just stick with it, and try it in different places

Could be you were near electrical, or communications wires, either buried, or overhead. Mine did that once, and buried electrical wires was the cause.

Try turnin the sens down, I know you dont want to, but try. And if it still chatters, ignore the chatter and focus on the solid signals. Frustrating? Yes.Impossible? no.

I notice I get less odd signals when using the small sniper coil. I run the small coil on my F2 all the time.
