Hi, I found this Flat Button within 100 yards of "Ethan Allen Highway" which is, among other things, the route the British took after sacking Danbury and returning to Norwalk CT. Its also just south of the skirmish known as the 'Battle of Ridgefield'. It registers a solid 70 on Garrett ATP Target ID. Can anyone tell me more about Flat buttons like this? My questions are: Is it something that could have been during the war? If so, which side British or American? Also, someone mentioned this might have been a button on leggings. Does anyone know what those were called? Any idea as to what this material is? Sorry for so many questions, I'm hoping to learn more about these kinds of historical finds. Thanks in advance!

I don't have any answers for you but I found one very similar to that, two days ago with material still attached to the shank. Nice find!
