Just seems strange to find this flint amongst other flint flakes and artifacts when we don't have this kind of flint around here. Only time I seem to find it its been worked. I've walked miles of this river and there's no flint in it that I can see. Chert but no flint.

i have found those before. It is just the way that that particular mineral fractures. Looks just like a chisel tip but as you can see there is no real way it could be struck and used as such.

This place is disked so I was thinking the striking end was busted in the process. The part of the tip that I thought was ground down I'm starting to think is just the outer cortex of the stone. I can't complain tho. I've gotten a few nice pieces from here. 4 points and a scraper as well as this hopeful mystery all in one day. Thank you guys for your opinion. I do appreciate it.

You posts did not disappear, they were not artifacts and did not belong in this forum, they were moved, you can find them by clicking on your posts and following the links.

This can be removed if this isnt an artifact. Never hurts to double check. Thank you everyone for your time. This thread can get deleted now.

They don’t delete threads that aren’t breaking the rules.

Posts and and threads like this are welcome and appreciated, and how we learn.

yes indeed...and we all can see objects that we may have or have seen and get validation or rejection as well.
