Flintlock side plate.

Found a broken piece of the side plate to a musket or pistol in colonial Brunswick Ga. Made of copper alloy. Down at least a foot.

Yeah it was really deep too so I cant help thinking there was more of it to far down for me to detect.

I would have been scratching my head to figure out what that was.

It was a mystery. I recognized the carving style from muskets I'd seen, and I saw that it took a screw so that lead me down the right path.
