I'm pretty sure that is half of either a Suwanee or a Simpson. You really have to post more than one far away photo from only one angle to get a proper ID. When a photo is all that can be used. It almost looks like it could have been a bull tongue style of Simpson.

Looks like a stem, maybe a Duncan, it has a base like that, and it is western.

I'm in colorado, I've seen some bases like that.

I know there is no size reference in the photo.. however I'm pretty sure this person is not posting a stem and asking what kind of point it is. Welcome to Treasure net.

Looks like you have there a Desert southwestern, stemmed-bifiuricated, Archaic point. I would suggest a Duncan or a Cold Springs variety. Nice going and Happy Hunting! :icon_thumleft:

Am I looking at a different photo? Where is the stem?? There has to be a stem for the stem to be bificurated. I swear I have no idea why anyone sees a stem. Am I the only 1 that can clearly see fluting flakes?????

Bifurcated makes sense. Split in a stem that forms two lobes. Early archaic and paleo do not have typical stems, such as savannah river or morrow mt. Points. Examples that I am familiar with. I suppose a " stem" would always be the hafted section of a point. I have always simply called it a " base", but, have never thought in depth about it. ???? I'm done thinking for the night. I hope I didn't lower anyone's IQ by over 20%.

Stem.. is not the same as base when referring to typing a projectile point. if that were the case they would all be considered stemmed points. Here is a suwanee

Evidently as I certainty don't see any fluting flakes.

I see what Gator sees, but, it doesn't come all the way down the base. I'm wandering if that is a huge impact fracture. I, personally, have never seen a flute start half way up a point. Paleo or transitional. Interesting piece we have here. I wish a couple more angles were available. For real, I'm done thinking for the evening. Looking at pics strictly! Gator, quit making me think. Stuff drops my IQ. Already in negatives, don't make it triple digit negative. LOL
