Dug these food jars from three different pits that were blocks apart but all from the same era. I wouldnt be posting them had I not been over-curious about the contents they may have held. Whatever they held, it must have been common here in the neighborhood about 1910 or so. The closures on two are identical but on one it is different. I am guessing that someone out there has seen these before and know what was in them, I dont think they were generic canning jars, although there is a blank side for a paper label. Nothing on their bases either. Anybody have a clue so I can put these behind me? Thanks vn.

They look like pickle jars to me. But that's just a guess, really.

As plentiful as they have been for me, I would think they were common finds in the digging community. I would think they would be a regular sight in the hole, like ketchups.....or is that catsups?:laughing7: Pickles seem reasonable though.
