The area that you have marked with the red circle on the map was the first location that a friend and I detected several years ago. The results were posted previously. We did a tight grid pattern of the field and found no evidence of Fort Franklin being in that field. We spread out and searched the fields within that triangle with no success. Either the fort is located somewhere else within the area or there was very little lost back then. The relics may also be out reach with modern day detectors. Coop

by reading the report on their day of Inspection
they really didn't have Much.

Probably didn't waist much ammo either

The residents who Fleed there probably didn't have much either.

Would be a very Tuff area as losses would be spread out & Few.

Possably losses were closer to the Creek

This was Stein's Grist & Saw Mill
a short Distance west of Fort Franklin

it later became Became Soudt's mill.

in the 1750's Settlers were accustomed to take refuge
in the Mill still locally known as Stoudt's Mill.

In this Vacinity, the Indians Captured a Mr. Fies & His Son.
the Bones of Mr. Fies were found a long time later
about a half mile from his house.
he was recognized by his buttons and a frying pan nearby.
His son was never heard of again

I would think a fort that was occupied for less than two years would not be too plentiful in lost relics, but it only takes a few to put a big smile on your face, especially if it is determined to be of that era. I think I have a Bolich in my ancestry, saw Bolich name mentioned somewhere as at one time owning the land. Jeff, have to look at the old posts to remember what fort you were talking about that the Daubenspecks owned land at or near back than. Picqueing my interest again in my ancestors of Schuylkill and northern Berks............... :)

I would have to try and look into that possibility also.
certain parts of 309 most likely were parts of old paths

From Frontier forts, it stood directly across the mountain to Lynnport location of Fort Everett

If you take this Route

Sounds like it may be worth looking into, I've been so busy lately with work, I think it's been months since I have even charged my battery... I've pretty much forgot about the forts, I did think about hitting that park in weissport, fort Franklin.. Alpaca lady, does your family have all those alpacas there on the east side of the highway? That farm there looks like it would have its own wealth of history, beautiful place!
