This put a smile on my face. Just like finding eight gold rings, found this awesome 30" 14K gold chain with 14K charm. Glad the charm was still on it because no way would the beachhunter pick up just the chain that deep, it was in a nice cut I found waist deep water and it was 4 1/2 scoops down. The clasp was still locked so it must have slipped over someones head... Had the wet suit on today so nice and warm in the water.

Wow! :notworthy:

I've been looking for an anchor link chain like that for a while now to wear myself. Awesome find.

The "charm" is a WWII era style dog tag shape. The notch in the tag was used to align it in the early type stamping machine for the real dog tag, not a tooth notch as urban legends repute. Later stamping machines did not require the notch and it was eliminated.

The Gerber does not have handles on it and it looks exactly as you found it. (Gerber 45874 Ridge Knife) It is the "KISS" pattern originally inspired by Columbia River Knife and Tool, CRKT KISS knife; I personally have used the Gerber for my money clip for the last decade.

If you are interested in selling or trading for just the chain, shoot me a PM.

Awesome finds! The water has been too rough to get out in here, Red flags up today; so no gold for me. :'(

Well Bill, I thought about hunting your side of the state this weekend, but now I see there is no need, you have already recovered all the good stuff.......................

Nice find, lucky the scoop didnt tear the chain up, it must have collected in a ball when it fell.............. :icon_thumright:

Wow!! Great Find! I found a gold chain w/a gold pendant shaped like dog tag before. But I was not educated on finding out the real value. Hate to say this, but I pawned it for $50! I am kicking myself. I should of kept it, knowing what I know now. But...I did not even know if it was real gold. I didn't know about testing kits, etc.. I just recently got into this hobby & learned a lot in a short amount of time. It must of been gold as the pawn guy seemed to think it was worth at least $50?? It was dumb of me, but I take my pains, live and learn, and never make that mistake again!! uugghh!!

I'm excited for you. Your find brings back that memory for me!! Come to think of it, I am trying to even remember if it had a stamp on it like 14k or something? I wish I still had it! I needed some extra cash. Bummer. Oh well.
