I scratched it! Luckily it is a very common variety, known as the stemless reverse with a double S. Sheldon variety S-241.
The site was along a beautiful tidal river and it was my first coin from this site, my son a few years back found a half real very close to where the Large Cent was found. I started out getting another flat button which seem to a give me everytime I go out and a object that might be some type of jewelry, a musket ball and about 30 shotgun casings!
Since I now have two Large Cents this month, I think my goal of 100 lifetime should be reached this year and hopefully I do it before winter's end. I am sure there are are still more at this big area and it will just take PATIENCE on my part and continue to slowly work the area.
Enjoy the photos.
