It is so fun to go detecting . My hunting buddy Ryan and I hunted a old school that he picked out for this mornings hunt . I'm sure glad we went !! Ryan found a beautiful 14k gold wedding band and I found a few things myself . My first good finds were all in a 20 by 20 foot area . I found two Wheats first , 1946S & 1956D . Next is two silver dimes in the same hole , 1945D Merc & 1947 Rosie . The very next target was at 5-6 inches and was jumping from +65 to +72 . When I found the coin I could not believe it , my first 1800's coin in nearly 2 two years ! 1898 Indian Head penny ! I thought the day was already great and then about a half hour later I get a +72 at 2 inches . I pull back the dirt and I see GOLD :headbang:!! It turns out to be a 5 GRAM Credit Suisse bar . It's been hit by the mower , but I'll take it !
After all the soccer games started we moved to a small area in the field and the 3rd target is a small .925 ring ! #26 for the year . Then one more Wheat cent , 1941 . Last I got a small junk ring #27. Total clad for 3 hours is $17.61 . We are going back tomorrow .

Wow, congrats on the gold bar, certainly don't find those every day!

A couple years ago I had a "silver" quarter on edge like your photo... I was about to do the happy dance when I realized it was Canadian. Oh well...

that gold bar is a super find!
