Steel wool is great on crusty coins. I have had many that I didn't know for sure what they were.
You wouldn't want to do this to a decent coin, but it is great on the hopeless ones.

Steel wool will put whole lotta scratches on the coin.. If your not sure of the date I wouldn't use this method

Soak it overnight in worcheshire sauce. Sounds silly but it will bring it back to its gray color.

Nice find Wes. I'm too lazy for those lower hits. I am going to try more of them this year though.
