I think so. 19th-early 20th C. Don't know how it get there, absolute no other finds. Oh, when writing this i remembered a religious medal in my pocket....but 19th C also.

A bit creepy but I really like it! You might want to try posting it on the what is it board. I suspect either an advertising piece or a sculpture, but well see what others say. Could it possibly be brass? Check it with a magnet, since brass isn't magnetic.

Lol! You have found my greatest fear! Finding the gold ring I seek but it's still on a hand! Well I guess you can check that off your list! Hope some one can give you info on it.

Do you save your brass casing and sell them? I just started putting mine in a bucket to see if it's worth saving them. I seem to find them quite often and if they go for brass scrap prices, it may be worth it. What are your thoughts?

Its a flag mount maybe? The tiny factor has me a bit unsure though. Check for the mounting holes. That would make sense as why there's wood lodged in there. Here's another one...

The hand is cool. Is there anyway to tell if it had a horizontal or vertical orientation when mounted? My first inclination was a flag holder, something like this, but older:

Thanks all! Still not sure what it is. The flag mount is a good idea but i found that the mount had a square shape so more likely some kind of handle. Don't know if post boxe handles had square mounts...i suppose not. Another speculation was paperweight, also didn't match with a square shaped mount....
Whatever, it's a cool find and i put some work in it today as it is not worth much. I will post some pics later.... :occasion14:

I pull thousands of targets out of our fields, 80% of them are brass relics from WWII. Casings, .50 Cal. bullets, driving band fragments, fuzes and so on. Currently i have near 60 pounds in the brass box from this year+the lead bucket. I dig them anyway, so i can throw them in a box and sell!
