Found a very tiny brass buckle today. How old and what was it used for?

I wasn't going to post this buckle, but it's really bugging me! I need to know how old it may be and what the heck it was used for.

It's a thin brass buckle and very small. It's only 1 1/8" long and 5/8" wide with a fairly ornate design. Never dug a buckle that looks like this one and definitely not one this tiny!

Here's a couple of pics. Give me your best guesses as to the age and what it was used for. Thanks!

They didn't start fixing the pin in the centre like that until the 20th C. Probably a ladies fashion buckle.
 

Thanks, Crusader. I forgot about the fixed pin setup not being really old. I found a 1920's Egyptian sash buckle in the same area last year, so maybe they're connected. Could be that someone was having fun in this field one summer night and got carried away! LOL!
 

Hey FreeBird Tim, I have found that exact buckle myself. The property I found it in a yard from a house built in the 1920's. I hope this helps.
