Found a well while trying to locate a privy. At first I thought it was the privy but after moving the dirt around I found it was only a well. It is a very old well and was filled in during the 20's or 30's I'm guessing. Found a couple bottles in the top part of the fill. There's a pine tree growing in the middle of it so I don't think I can get anything else out of it. What's puzzling is I found broken pottery, porcelain canning lids and old glass on the outside of the well about 3' ft down. Anywho, thought you might enjoy some photos of some dirt being moved. Whoa neat finds bass. The wells in your neck of the woods are different then the ones here in New England. Most are left uncovered here and are about 20 feet deep. A month ago i came across a well with a dead baby bear in it that must of been one distressed momma bear.Sometimes I come across bottles on rock shelves in the wells.

This is only the 2nd brick well I've seen in my 40+ yrs of roaming the woods here. Nearly all the wells around here are not lined and when abandoned fill in over time with leaves/debris/erosion. They are very dangerous.
