Found an interesting hand-made ring this week

Hey everyone!

I was hunting at a house that belonged to the town's pastor in 1840 and came across this ring (which I'm guessing is much newer than that). It's pretty interesting because you can see the hammer dents and file marks from someone making it out of what I assume is an old nut.

I think it was made from an old nut, something like this: hex_nut.jpg

The lines on the outside of the ring are file marks.

Thanks everyone, and yes it's copper. I ran it through my rock tumbler for a few hours to get it nice and pretty looking because it was really dull and dirty when I found it.
