Had a bit of an insane day and managed to find a colonial honey hole towards the end, which was a surprise. It was on our way out and I decided to go check out a stone pile which looked like a regular old pile of stones from when they were farming, then started getting loads of buttons, and more...
My father and I found a Thumb Piece (we think) from a Brown Bess musket. It’s inscribed "R (or something else-maybe "I")-28" and the back has a down arrow with what looks like some crude roman numerals. We both found a matron 1831, 1822, and we both found draped busts, 1798, 1802. He also found a cool “In God We Trust” button we still don’t know much about. I also found a beautiful watch winder with what looks like faceted amethyst.

A Button That Reads "In God We Trust" and a Beautiful Button with all it's Gold Gilt:

The Watch Winder with Faceted Amethyst (we think):

Looks like a third quarter 18th century context which is great, except for the one button which I haven't seen before.

Good collection of finds.

I'm not sure if that is an Amethyst but it is a better average quality than most. Shows that the watch was nicer & the guy had money.

That looks like a relic hunters dream hunt right there! you have a little bit of everything from the life of the time period, and that "In God we trust" button is absolutely unbelievable. I agree with Crusader, the button with the fancy watch winder says this person or people were affluent for the times. You must be on some very forgiving soil for everything to be buried for the better part of 150-175 years and it come out that clean. You are definitely on a killer spot!

Very beautiful finds, congratulations! The imagery on the "In God We Trust" button may be an opened Bible, or the two tablets for the ten commandments? Sub 8-)

Yes you are, it’s either “R” or “I” “- 28” the back has the British broad arrow etched into it.
