Headed down south the weekend of Nov. 20-21 and scouted around a known Union camp for picket posts... found one! Made a couple of new friends too! (see pic) seriously did not hear them walk up on me till the one was trying to eat my headphones.Best find was an ornate sash buckle that would have been worn by an officer.

Very nice SP!!! As Cody (Kuger) said, ladies may have been "visiting". At a large U.S. picket camp that Dman and I hunted, we found umbrella tips, etc. that soldiers were not likely to have used and there was no old home around. You dug some good relics. I enjoy your posts ands feel sure you have the "relic bug" too like so many of us.
We are currently finising an article for one of the treasure/relic magazines entitled "Locate that CW Site you Know is there". I think you can skip that article since you knew where to look. Congrats on a good hunt. HH, Quindy.

Thanks Quindy! Yeah I definitely have the relic bug and have had for about 12 years, since I was introduced to it by Dorian Cook (who some may remember from Lost Treasure and other treasure mags years ago). It's tough for me as I live a good 4-5 hours from my main hunting area. You guys in Tenn and Va are so lucky to have it right in your backyard. I can't tell you how many trips I have made and brought back nothing. There is a camp I have researched and searched for for about 5 years now...it's driving me crazy, I know it's out there and I am getting close..just not there yet. HH'ing
