Down today to go deer Hunting for the first time this season and decided to try a spot on side of the road I've passed a hundred times I've always had a suspicion about. Found this point today in about 10 minutes. Any idea what type of material this is? The material is not from around here as this area is near Savannah Ga.

Great looking point. I think the deer would've been safe from me for a while after finding that.

It looks like a speckled or mottled rhyolite to me too. I would call that a real nice classic example of a Kirk stemmed or Kirk serrated point. Real nice, and looks to be a 16 pointer, 8 serrations on each side !

It does appear to be Rhyolite or some felsic composition close to it.

A couple photos in natural light from different angles would definitely help my guess is it's a nice grayish colored flint and the white specks are patina

There is all different types of flint in GA. I have even found some that has tiny holes in it like slag but is a flint.
