Found a 7/8th inch size gold escudo high on beach (but not in the dunes) about 8" down using a Lorenz with an 18" loop. (had covered the same area with my 14" Gold Bug before and got bottle tops)

could this lead to a wreck as it is out of the main 1715 fleet area?

Coin encrusted on the back with sand/cement. front shows escudo design well with three flowers at the top, small letter c above large letter D above two "0nes" together (11?) all on right side. indentations all around this face/side.

Any idea of the year? www.newworldtreasure.com/goldcobs.htm item #6039 says most gold coins came from Spain as wealthy person pocket change, except for three new world mints.

AFTER i check the area again tomorrow I'll take GPS co-ordinates and post them. may be something good offshore for you Sea Dogs..you never know.
