I will look for the Edward Veney place on an old map of Page County; if it was near the Shenandoah River... I will find it; sounds like the Newport area on the bend (Old River's Bend Farm). Worked there when I was younger, has LOTS of hills & mountains... VERY special place (feeling). NOT at the base of Massenutten Mountains, tho... @ 3-4 miles away. MAYBE, he had a HUGE Farm... AND! It IS on the WEST side of the River (Shenandoah River).
