I found this penny and checked it to see if it was one of the new 2009 Lincoln pennies because it was so shiny. Turns out it is over 50 years old and in realllly great shape. I was shocked, the best shape wheatie I have ever found.

That is one rare find, I find pennies here in Arizona that are 10 years old and look ancient, one even had a hole in the middle from the corrosion! I suppose it kind of depends on the PH of the soil the coin is left in.

Cool that you found that nice wheat cent. Good eyes.

I know I've gotten a few in the past in change. One time on Christmas Eve my mother asked me to go pick up a pie. I was kind of mad about going because all the last minute shoppers were out, at that point me too :laughing9: When I paid for the pie the cashier gave me back two of the best wheat cents I've ever seen. They looked like they were fresh off the press. Santa Claus dropped off my gift early that year.

I often wonder when I get silver coins in change if they are from someones stolen collection, especially when they have glue on the back. At that point I feel sad but not sad enough to wrap them up and place them with mine....sorry.

I went to the bank last month to cash a check and ask for 2 rolls of quarters. Some of the places that I go to for beach hunting require quarters for the meters. I got to the car and found 4 silver quarters in one of the rolls. One of them was in pristine condition.

Very nice find!

I recently roll-hunted a box of pennies and turned up about 10 wheats, all 50's dates, that looked exactly like that. Shiney, crisp, beautiful! Gotta love it!
