I found this in the loft of my barn, it looks like it would have been used as a flower or candle holder, but I am not sure. Anyone have any idea what this is, or how old it is.

Thanks! It looks very similar to a lamp holder, I think you may have solved it!

The shelf at the placque's lower end is a half-circle, much too narrow to hold even a small oil-lamp's base.

The two horizontally-oriented holes just above the half-circle shelf indicate something was permanently attached there. The holes might have held a half-circle "railing."

Wall sconce missing the two candle holders. I would call it "vintage" - mid 20th C.

The piece on top and on the bottom is made of cast iron, with some paint. I am surprised though that there is no soot on any of the wood though.

Coinman, wish I could be of some help with the ID of this piece found. It is a cool looking piece and certainly looks old to me.

???
Light color above lower " tray" could be from fingernails grabbing wooden matches?
The piece is no match box ,but could have been repurposed for such.

That was my first thought too. The other thought was a holder for a saint whoever statue. Have seen similar over the years, but I'm not sure if they went together or someone had just put a statue on a re-purposed holder.
