I found these items way back in the woods. The trap was not set which was good for me.

I am a professional trapper and I make most of my money by trapping moles.

I then cut off their back ends and put them in a jar and sell them as molasses.

Hi everybody, I have been closely watching this thread for a while now and I had originally decided not to get"involved". Well I changed my mind, I live in a farming community and as such understand the need for pest control. In Britain we don't have the same problems that are resident in most other countries ie dangerous animals, venomous snakes and rabies (as yet ). I think, and this is just my opinion, the main problem on this thread is that we all have a different and personal view on "humane" and the need to control pests or to provide food and clothing. I haven't been a member for very long on Tnet, but in the short time that I have, I have come to value, respect and have found humour and solice from all the members irrespective of their nationality or background. I really hope that we can all lower our tempers and get on with yet another year of great detecting and helping each other.

peace to all

Nothing for me, I haven't been out since last Sunday ( I have to take care of an elderly relative with dementia), but I am hitting a new field tomorrow morning, fingers crossed :icon_thumleft:.

I am also very familiar with trapping having 50 or so years experience. I have also used straight edged razors like what appears to be in the 1st picture and let me tell you more human blood is spilled by one of those evil inventions than all the traps discussed here. Careful with the bare handed digging out there and in the dark alleys in gang land.

ah a straight razor can easily cut you deep ,wide and often-- a very wicked item in the hands of a mad person who knows how to use one -- also gives wicked smooth shaves in its "proper " use.

Nice old relics...looks like your detecting field is potential for many more finds. I think the trap is a neat find...I got one just like it on my wall of old farm tool displays.

 RR

By the way.....NICE FINDS....Hand them on the wall or if you have a pest hanging around use the thing if it is usable.
