That's a 69 Judge. I own a 68 I'm currently restoring. Did you see my find?

They took it for now. It's going to have to be worked on as I couldn't get the slide to move. There may be another serial # on it ( maybe the barrel) who knows maybe there's a body on it

Yes I did! Pretty cool.
Just hope there are no bodies on it and dumped off because the cops would most likely not be to understanding of not turning it in.
If it was used in a crime and if it was possible they would want to check the ballistics and or the serial #s on it to trace its origin.
They can raise the serial numbers in a lab using acid whether is been corroded or grinders off.
Usually if there was a crime committed with it and it was in your possession you'd most likely be arrested for that crime and have to prove that you're innocent.
In this case they'd most likely believe that you've found it but if kept it unreported then you could possibly be arrested and charged with obstruction of an investigation.
But who knows. Guess it would depend on the cop and the laws of which state you're in.
Being that it appears to be in useless condition I'd call them to the seen and show them where it was found "with it not in your hand of course" or at least stop by the station and talk to them about what should be done.
If you'd like to keep it after it's been investigated if mention it. Bering that it may be in useless condition you may have a chance but I seriously doubt you'd ever see it again.more than likely it will bd tagged for evidence on a possible unsolved case.
With that being said I wouldn't want to get caught with it

I'm sorry I didn't see the other posts till after I responded

Ya I know I'm a Cop. I turned it in a week ago to the proper jurisdiction. Oh it's gone. I'm quite sure I won't ever see it again just due to the fact that the serial # was defaced. I had to clean it up and research it to find out if it was real before I handed over a BB gun
