man that is cool. from what I understand, some of those pig jugs date back to the mid-1800's. I'd be willing to bet that thing is worth some good cash

You didn't say what it was, and it's so cool that it doesn't matter, but can we guess? It reminded me of a ceramic foot warmer, but after googling for a bit, I'm more inclined towards a whisky bottle - you may want to put it in the bottle forum for more info? But altogether cool. Did you find the rest of its ear?

The dig was in boggy conditions with tons of shards and what not. The ear may be sleeping with the fishes. I'll keep my eye open for an ear when I return to the dig site.
