Thanks for the replies everybody!!! To answer a few questions,,,,, The V nickel gave me kind of a weird mixed tone and VDI,, as I recall from 10 to about 30,,, trying to lock on at 20... I found both of the nickels in the same yard about 8' apart,,,, the shield nickel was a first for me,, it is 1868.... I didn't know what I had till I got home and washed the dirt off the V nickel,,, looked it up in the Red book and did a HOLY CRAP!!!!! I took it to a friend of mine this weekend, who is a coin collector, and he said it will easily grade as Good,,, maybe better. He said there are ways to help it's appearance which could greatly increase it's value. So for now, until I find out what should be done with it , it's sitting all by itself,,, safe and sound!!!! I love this hobby!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Terrific find, congratulations! ;D That sure is a tough situation, I am sure that key date nickel and indian could clean up a bit but you obviously shouldn't clean them because of their numismatic value. I have seen dug keydate coins slabbed before and PCGS, NGC, ANACS, etc usually just add something like "Enviornmental Corrosion".

It's funny how we all told our wives that one gold ring or rare coin could pay for this detector, yet we wouldn't dare sell one of our treasures! :)

HH, Mark
