I know nothing about it, but that is a great find. I'd love to find that. Looks like it's in great shape.

It's wayyy too big to be a Williams cleaner mold. It's .31 caliber. It's definitely a colt

Is it 4 cavity or is the picture fooling me?

It's hard to say if there's a fourth. There is another cavity there but it's on the opposite side of the mold, which is strange, and it's not a complete sphere. So I'm not really sure what the purpose is

Molds are made with a cavity on the opposite side. It only takes the lead a second to harden. The cavities by the hinge look smaller than the other round ball and conical.

Yeah, they are smaller, but they are all spherical except for the .31 colt on the outside. I think the one in the middle is a .32 ball, and the one on the far right is a mold for shot to be used with the ball. Like a "buck & ball" would be used in a musket.

I am guessing it was made for an officer that way they would have different caliber bullets. I found one a while back made for the officers in the revolutionary war. very cool had the initials of the guy who made it--Josiah Miller

Killer bullet mold! Loving the finds being posted right now... the combination of warm(er) weather and everyone having time off around the holidays, has turned up some of the best stuff I've seen on here all year. It would be awesome to find a mold like this.

Cool find. Here's .58 1301webcat03_img_25.jpg with a cavity on the opposite side. Says it was used to make buckshot (buck-n-ball).
