Found these two at same spot yesterday . Could it be from a vein of gold ??? Found the flakes in the sand and I have not even panned it yet.

lol ok so i would grind and pan, good mineralization, but im seeing schist and pyrite... you could also try to see if it dissolves in muriatic acid (home depot) also known as HCL Hydro Chloric Acid its what jewelers use to test gold quality.

This is the rocks after soaking in muriatic acid over night. What you think.? The top of the rock turned kinda green but that's about it. I put some other rocks in it to and the are all yellowish and eroded.

Found this today up in the same dry wash up by desert ridge arizona off of pima rd.it was in one of the corners of the dry wash where it bends it was was almost buried and looks like its been there for a long time. No one has prospected it and I clean the owner of the lands pool I'm the only one with permission so I guess it untouched. I got some pay dirt / black sand last week a bout a to pans full and got a bunch of flakes and got them tested and its gold. Back to what I found today tho its about 8 inch and 4 in wide and not to thick but this thing prob weighs 8 pounds almost feels like a brick of gold. Let me know what you think. Thanks guys

granular hematite with quartz .. (black sands) look for more of the white quartz in a swath in the rock or all on its own (rounded rock suggests river wash) its an Iron composite and ushually follows gold as it is very heavy.

You can buy a "mortar and pestle" make sure it's meant for rocks tho. That's for hand crushing. You could buy or build a machine some guys on here have, try searching rock crusher.

Awesom ill look into that. Also there are huge amounts of quartz in the sand here are just a few I've gotten from there.

nice! there we are! lol i love the rose quartz with mineralization ! good spot to crush lol also on the grinding .. break it up with a sledge (harbor freight 3.99$ ) and then use a fence post hammer (lowes or home depot 19.99) with a heavy piece o metal to pound it with (pry-bar at harbor freight works well 19 lbs 6' long and $20.00) that'll grind it up well.. also check out my crusher (36$ crusher in hard rock mining forum) it may give you some ideas.! I must admit you never know whats in a rock completely until your crush it up.. i've had rock that never looked like it would yield,, crushed it and low and behold full o gold,, then id have to go gather up all the tailings,,lol ! gl and Get that gold!

Great info thank you. But I'm still confused how you get gold out off the crushed?

Most people use aqua regia I think it's like acid that separates the heavy metals out. Get some training on how to do it if you were going to can be dangerous. Big gold mines use cyanide and leach it through diff fabric filters. It depends on the gold deposit and whether its trapped in the rock or not, most nevada gold is trapped in rock and you'd never know it was there unless you crushed it. They generally refer to deposits as high or low sulfur and with a few other descriptions, the carlin trend in nevada is low sulfur deposit where it's all trapped in the rock, in calif the gold is high sulfur epidermal gold shot up in veins not spread in the rock like nevada gold. Hope that makes sense or helps.
