This really makes no sense. But someone out there must have been paying for them.

Wow! I have been throwing those back in the coin jar since I had always thought they were only worth 25 cents. I was only focused on '64 and before. How many have I handed back to the bank over the years?

Just a theoretical value. It's worth what someone will pay for it. A gem uncirculated I a slab might be worth $35, but it would cost you that to get it slabbed. If you save up a dozen of them and buy a silver Washington quarter you'd be ahead of the game. Outside of it's face value, there is no numismatic value in a 1965 quarter. There are no buyers.

I have no idea where they came up with that, but an average circulated 1965 is worth 25 cents. Try selling one for a dollar and see.

That site is not very credible. I looked up a 1968-D Kennedy half and it said it was worth .50 cents on average. Uhhh, no. It is a 40% silver coin!

They're worth a quarter each up to mint state. I see MS-65's listed at $9. For $35 it better be a 67 or above. The 1965 is the most common date that can be found in the Washington quarter series. Over 1.8 billion issued. That's 350 million more than were issued for all 5 varieties in 2013 including proofs and silvers. Somebody pulled that pricing out of their north end while southbound.
