I found it on a street they ripped up in my city last week. The street was paved in the 30's and hasn't been ripped up till now. Believe it or not nobody is hunting it. I have found sitting libertys, Barbers, lots of Mercs, an Indian was officers button, lots of indian heads and V nickels. 1 mile long of the oldest street in town there ripping up. I am in heaven!!! The hunt is on!!!

Ryan,

I still am a bit lost. You say you found lots of mercs and Indians. How many is lots? I see 3 mercs and 4 indians! I also only see one seated. We like pictures of LOTS!!

Is that '16 Rosie a "D" mint mark by any chance?
If so, that will pay for a very nice vacation.
Don......

Yes it is a 1916 D mint mark that was found the day after I found the gold coin

So that's where all those coins were hiding! They must have retired and gone to your town

Nice finds

Ryan,

At least two of your mercs are from the 1940's. Impossible if the street was last torn up in the 30's. Also that 1916D dime is another holy grail of metal detecting finds.

I can't give an opinion on having it graded without seeing the front of the card

The chances of finding a 1/2 eagle gold coin one day and a 1916d merc the next seem pretty astronomical to me. You better go buy as many lottery tickets as you can and pay a visit to your nearest casino as well

Ryan, I am going to make one more observation and then leave this thread. Your original post says you found the gold coin TODAY. This post QUOTED by you says you found the 1916D dime the DAY AFTER you found the gold coin which would mean you found the dime TOMORROW.

Sorry the cop in me smells something fishy and I don't buy any of it.

I wish you luck digging the rest of the street.

Early in the morning in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came and killed the two dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true,
Go ask the blind man..he saw it too.
