US # 909c, POLAND of the 1943 Overrun Countries issue, block of 4, REVERSE PRINTING - red over black. Top 2 stamps hinged, bottom 2 are mint never hinged. I picked it up from a stamp dealer for .40c and was listing it on eBay since I don't collect mint stamps, for $85, when I noticed the woman in distress in the lower right stamp has a lock of hair hanging over her face. That is a plate error, and could be repeatable, maybe on all the various countries of the issue as the frame is the same on them all. I'm calling it "Lock of hair on face" variety. The upper right stamp has the P&O of POLAND joined, lower right stamp has PQLAND, and the "Lock of hair on face", and all are reversed in color printing order. Unusual to find such a variety rich block of 4. I may hang onto this one, even though as a rule I don't collect mint stamps, but am starting to really like the Overrun Countries issue as this is about the 20th error stamp from that issue that I've found this year, and they all command and get decent values. They are out there! :headbang:
