I would criss cross the area you found that very slowly and thoroughly.

Not sure what golden caps are im pretty new to this ive only gone out lookin maybe 10xs. But the more i go the more i like it even if i dont find something.

funny i have been looking for morrells and can not find any,nice artifact you have found.any tips on finding some shrooms.

If you smell musky basement you in right area and once you find one there should be more. Whereever you find them keep going back to that place.

funny i have been looking for morrells and can not find any,nice artifact you have found.any tips on finding some shrooms.

look into what types of tree's they favor in your area ..once the temps stay above 40 at night and reach around 60 during the day the morels will start...watch for wild leeks/ramps there an easy plant to learn

thank you dusty trails,berti nice haul some people call them dry land fish,reading this thread made me think that it could be because of the smell i really want to try one.how do you cook them,like to know alittle about that too/

I clean them with water or soak in salt water in fridge over night, slice longways down cap and stem, to split in 2, i dip them in egg and roll in flour and fry.
