The first structure was built in 1772 over a natural mineral spring, and served as a local fort, protecting your health in more ways than one. In the 1800's, Frankfort Springs became a vacation spa and is still a resort drawing visitor from all around the region.

Jeff, be advised that the park forbids detecting around Mineral Springs. I have been to that park detecting a few times, and I know that Mineral Springs and Historic Cemetaries thruout the park are off-limits.
