did the link help ya out any

It's a half dollar, not a dollar. It's obviously been cleaned, so it's probably worth silver value with is about $12 right now.

It's cleaned. Silver develops a unique "toning" over time. Yours has definitely been cleaned, and pretty harshly too.

Looks like a typical lower end Uncirculated to me, not terribly valuable but a nice coin.

he doesn't know if it is cleaned it could have been broken out of a slab or something like that

The fact is, silver coins develop a toning over time unless they are in a vacuum sealed holder. That stapled thing is not even close. The ONLY way a nearly uncirculated coin, in that container, could be THAT shiny is for it to be cleaned.

I spent several years assembling a set of untoned uncirculated Franklin halves. There are lots of untoned examples, it all depends on how they have been stored.

Maybei they took it out of a unfinished proof set and put it in there for a better looks because no one wants to buy a case with just a Ben Franklin half dollar.

I got whole rolls of Franklins.. You can take them to the pawn shop get $5 to $7 each for them. Or put them on E-Bay and you may get $10-$60 for them. I have sold countless Franklins on E-bay and normally get $10-$20 but sometimes you can get up to $60 for one. Good luck :occasion14:

There is no such creature as an "unfinished proof set". Proof sets come sealed from the mint as a set. If you open it, it becomes just another coin.
