Howdy,

Just wanted to let everybody know that they can get free Kentucky maps at the Geological map library on UK's campus in Lexington. Each time you visit, the staff will copy you five free maps. I have been using this service for years and am amazed that most people don't even know about it. You can get old maps, as well as new. This includes topos, geologic quads, railroad, insurance maps, etc. One drawback is that the maps are black and white, but I will often lay the maps side-by-side before I leave, just to see if there is anything that I might want to take note of in the color schemes. However, the black and white work just as well for me as the color ones, esp. since they're free! Personally, I prefer the old topos and they have them from the 1800s in some areas!

Good luck hunting,
