Presently: CTX 3030, Tesoro Modded Cibola, F75LTD-2, XP Deus, Tesoro Mojave, MXT Pro, Tesoro Eldorado, Whites MXT All Pro, Minelab Equinox, Fisher CZ5 & CZ3D
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Looking back over the years I estimate that over 80% of my gold jewelry finds have been made with Tesoro detectors. I know for certain that my best finds have been made with Tesoro detectors. All of those Tesoro finds have easily paid for my Tesoro detectors many times over and have paid for a good part of all my latest and greatest high-tech detectors.

Has anyone else had the same experience?

I can say with a 100% certainty that all of my Tesoro’s I owned paid for themselves within the first year. The ones I worked on for customers who’d end up selling them to me was the same way plus I’d double my money on them. If it was one detector I wish I had back it would be a toss up between the two, my Vaquero, or my underwater Tesoro

I like the Tejon a little better myself it has the trigger switch and dual disc. Did you ever compare the 2 aren't they similar otherwise ?

Yeah I’ve used nearly all of them. Dad used to be a salesman for them at our shop. I repaired some of them, and even built a few cibolas with manual ground balance. The only difference I saw between the Tejon and the Vaquero was price, fuel discrimination, and the trigger switch which my vaquero had the trigger switch and a lot of folks asked if we could make theirs that way as well. It was a easy and cheap job to do by simply adding the toggle into the base of the shaft area from the original wires. I didn’t see a huge difference in depth changes between the two. I’d owned 3-4 at a time most the time since I could get them off dad cheap when he’d take in a trade or sometimes if he made a order they’d send him an extra in the mail. My brother still has his Tejon. I remember at one time they were offering it with both coils to sell it better over the Vaquero. I can say after looking at the books on dads sales that the Vaquero was one of the best selling relic detectors behind the Cibola, and Umax. I wish I still had some of their old detectors and I’ll likely buy another one if I can find one cheap just to have as a backup

Having a shop puts many detectors in your hands and allows you to test them out and knowing how to modify them is a plus.
I have a original metal box silver and golden Sabre in very nice condition if you are interested in one.
