French coin ring?

Went out to an old park the other day. One of my first digs was an odd looking, dirty ring. I wasn't sure what it was at the time. Upon later inspection, we saw a strange looking coin embedded in the front of the ring. We began to clean it a little bit and it looks like a French coin. Anyone seen anything like this before?
