I went out on my day off and wanted to try out a detector I purchased at a sale. (Low end detector: Prospector 100 by Citiwell, but it is easier on my back than the Radio Shack I've been using.)

Started out at the local park and dug up less trash as I was able to tune it in better. Found my first quarter after a few minutes and then the odd metal pieces started showing up. Few "firsts" for me today. First key (not old but was fun to dig up) and my first ring (also nothing special, I think it's just plated copper - but sure got me excited!). Even dug up a couple bullets from a 38 special revolver. (Weird!) Starting to get the hang of this but have so much more to learn and will continue to read up and study everything I come across on here and elsewhere. Hope to post something worthy someday!

Going to hit a new spot this Saturday that looks really promising and until then am going to do some more research.

Here are some pics:

Good finds and nice photos!

Thanks!

I found myself getting up early this morning and went out and hit another park on my way in to work. Found another batch of coins, pretty much same stuff - but also a 1986 penny from Great Britain! Just about anything can pop out of the dirt these days! I cannot wait until the weekend because I will have three glorious days to go out and detect and dig to my heart's content!
