Furniture foot/claw

I managed to get out for just an hour on Sunday. It was a very very small property, which was way-too-modernly landscaped for my liking. And LOTS of junk. I did dig up one interesting piece. Seems to be a small (about 3 inches) decorative metal piece in the shape of an animals claw/paw. Perhaps was the foot of a small piece of furniture or table top piece? Dunno.

Thanks... it was about 8 inches deep. I think too small to be used for a tub, but maybe a coffee-urn or something like that? Attached are 2 pics to show scale.
