Been clearing a plot out of the Sumac trees in an old coral area for a garden, 4 ploughs, 2 tillings and now the sowing of the seed is underway. Thinking after I saw a couple of pieces of glass that I should run a coil over the area once again as I tried a year ago and the long grass and the 250+ Sumac trees prevented any detecting success. So I dropped the coil for an hour, and the first thing I saw was dug holes! no footprints. The first target was the back half of a two piece button and I couldn't find the front section no how I tried. Then I got part of an American folding ruler end which was sort of cool.

I caught the culprit for the hole digging and got her covered with the 11" coil. :) So now I have to stack off the nesting pits that she dug and wait for the babies, 300+meters from the water she traveled.

The surprise of the hunt was the 1812-1816 Sir Issac Brock 1/2 penny token. The spelling "Brook" is incorrect, as it should read "Brock"

The assorted finds from the short hunt, and I might drop the coil after putting up some protection fencing for the wildlife to keep them out of the garden plot.

Thanks for looking and HH to all.

I got this dagger or throwing knife today, it has a brass wire wrapped handle. Though I have no idea of the age of this knife.

The American signage looks like it belonged to a toy train car just guessing nice coin ,token and dagger?vanzutphen
It something that I never considered as the folding rule was in the same hole, and the lock was a few inches away.

Very cool finds, that token is awesome.
There's quite a variety of tokens that were minted and getting the different versions is fun.

That's a great token!
The tokens were used widely here as the coinage was in short supply, and a smile comes easy when some US coinage pops out of the dirt.

You certainly found some cool things in the garden! Congratulations! Nice of you watching out for the turtle!

Best of luck on your next garden hunt!
Work for a few hours-justify the detecting rewards for a bit, it seems to keep things in balance.

Wow really cool Pep. Great finds. I love that you love the critters too. Good man
Getting the token is cool as it's about as old as the area, the mills and the dam were built in 1810. I'd rather have critters than people around sometimes.:laughing7:

Aholes for sure! Disgusting and absolutely unforgivable behavior!! Thankfully there are folks like you in the world that care!
Trying to get signage or a speed limiting sign going through the proper, sometimes it takes a squeaky wheel.:icon_thumright:

I wish my garden produced tokens!
I live in a very rural area, having holes in my yard with no footprints around them is an everyday occurrence for me! I blame my dog for some but I know it's the forest creatures that are responsible for many of them

That site definitely deserves a more intensive investigation J, congrats on the Half Penny and the early American ruler! :occasion14:

Thanks for showing me that encrusted padlock yesterday, are you planning on doing any electrolysis to it? :icon_scratch:

Anyway, how was the turtle soup? :laughing7:

Not sure what to do with it yet, I'll put the knife blade into a mixture to see if there's a makers mark on it.

Turtle soup? Why cut down the tree when one can harvest the fruit. :laughing7:
